Detalles de la pieza
Strata is the word geologists use for the layers the earth lays down over time.
Strata brings together two kinds of stone born from opposite forces. Volcanic basalt is fire turned to stone: lava that cooled into dark rock. Travertine is water turned to stone: minerals left behind by springs, layer upon layer, in warm ivory, and in red where the water carried iron. Between them, four sheets of 304 stainless steel form the newest layer: the one we add ourselves.
Stone, steel, stone. Every level is a stratum, and every piece is a cross-section that never repeats, because no two stones are alike.
Build your own Strata: choose the levels and the tone of every stone.
Four 11-gauge 304 stainless steel sheets rest on ten blocks of natural stone: volcanic basalt, travertine and red travertine. The two long sheets form a two-level base; the two short ones raise the left half to four levels. Dimensions: 220 × 40 × 114 cm (approximate height). Each stone is unique, so its shape, color and height may vary. Lifestyle images are illustrative.
